Project overview
The Intergenerational Outdoor Education Programme is the first initiative of its kind in Greece, implemented by the European Outdoor Education Hub in collaboration with municipalities, primary schools, and local senior centres (KAPI).
The programme brings together school-aged children and older adults (65+) in outdoor learning settings. Activities include cooperative games, nature exploration, physical exercise, and problem-solving tasks designed to encourage interaction and collaboration.
Its primary goal is to strengthen intergenerational dialogue, community cohesion, and active participation across age groups. Each cycle connects one primary school with one senior centre in the same municipality, with activities carried out in public outdoor spaces.
All sessions are documented for research and evaluation, contributing to the development of methodologies for intergenerational education within Greece and the wider European context.
