The European Youth Forum Trogen, organised annually by Pestalozzi Kinderdorf in Switzerland, gathers young people from across Europe to exchange ideas and develop new skills in an intercultural setting. In 2024 and 2025, the European Outdoor Education Hub contributed to the Forum by leading the workshop “Designing Our Future.”
This workshop applied Outdoor Education and values-based facilitation to engage more than 130 young participants from nine European countries in experiential processes exploring inclusion, decision-making, and shared vision. Activities combined outdoor learning, teamwork, and dialogue, enabling teenagers to practise leadership in real contexts rather than simulated exercises.
Through this contribution, the EOE Hub demonstrated how Outdoor Education can strengthen youth participation, leadership skills, and cross-cultural understanding. The Forum outcomes included youth-led projects and initiatives that participants carried back to their schools and communities, amplifying the impact beyond the event itself.
